What is a Steel Frame Kit Home?

The term “steel frame” is often used to describe the structural steel used in steel framed buildings. A steel-framed home is fast becoming the preferred choice among informed customers and for good reason. Our steel frame kit houses a “pre-engineered” which simply means that someone has done all the calculations, designed and manufactured all components of the building, including how it will stand up under load, impact, and wind loads prior to it arriving on site.

Building with a steel frame provides many advantages over other forms of construction. Steel-framed buildings are economically sound structures that can quickly rise to their full height; they are also flexible systems that allow for easier design changes during construction than non-pre-engineered systems.

At Wide Span Homes, we use 100% Australian BlueScope Steel and the TRUECORE® steel frame in our homes, helping to make them termite resistant, safe and recyclable. Our kits are engineered for your property with flexible design options to ensure they can be tailored to meet your exact needs.

What's Included In Our Steel Kit Homes?

At Wide Span Homes, our steel kit homes are sold in a convenient “kit” form which includes all the components required to build your home. As you would expect, this includes all the structural components, roofing, walls, and your preferred foundation system (i.e posts/piers/stumps) if added to your kit.

You’ll need to consider the following in addition to your kit:

  • Earthworks
  • Slab
  • Doors and windows
  • Down-pipes
  • Plumbing
  • Electrical
  • Stairs
  • Plastering
  • Fixtures and fittings
  • Painting and floor coverings
